The opening of Dreamee Bakery & Café in Ho Chi Minh City marks a truly humbling and deeply meaningful milestone in a journey that began quite unexpectedly. What started as a small, home-based venture has now become a physical space where creativity, passion, and community come together and for that, I am profoundly grateful.
Baking wasn’t always part of my career path. I previously worked in a corporate environment until relocating to South Africa in 2019, just before the country went into lockdown. During that time of stillness and reflection, I began exploring various creative outlets, particularly those centered around food, desserts, and cakes. It was a period of experimentation that would soon transform my life.
In May 2021, a few friends asked if I could make a birthday cake for a shared celebration. It was my first major cake project, and although I was both excited and nervous, I gave it my best. The baking process went smoothly until I struggled with the buttercream. After several trips to the store and failed batches, we finally discovered a simple fix.
That cake, as humble as it was, marked a turning point. I became increasingly curious and passionate about cake artistry, experimenting with flavors and perfecting a buttercream recipe that would become my signature.
Over time, the response was overwhelming. My social media presence grew rapidly, and bakers from around the world began reaching out seeking tips, advice, and even lessons, which I eventually offered online. What started as experimentation, quickly evolved into something much greater. I was later approached by a supplier who offered me a brand ambassadorship, a role that brought further exposure. Soon, international media took notice.
In 2022, I was invited to write a tutorial for American Cake Decorating Magazine, followed by a guest judging appearance on the Tastemasters SA show. Before returning to Vietnam, I had the honor of contributing to Cake Masters UK, one of the leading publications in the industry.
By 2023, the journey had become even more dynamic. Our cakes were featured in Weddings in Houston (Winter 2024 edition) and the December 2023 issue of Cake Masters Magazine. I was also invited as a guest on the Baking for Business Podcast, which was both rewarding and encouraging.
Now in 2025, we open the doors to Dreamee Bakery & Café, a warm, welcoming space in Go Vap District where customers can enjoy handcrafted desserts, specialty drinks, and pastries made with care. This café represents more than just a brand, it’s the result of years of perseverance, learning, and an unwavering love for baking.
As a self-taught baker, the path has been anything but easy. But through every challenge, I have grown stronger, more passionate, and more committed to the craft. I remain dedicated to evolving with global trends and bringing innovative creations to our customers in Vietnam and beyond.
To every supporter, follower, customer, and friend... THANK YOU! Your encouragement has carried me through the hardest moments and inspired me to dream bigger. The opening of Dreamee Bakery & Café is not just a professional milestone, it is a heartfelt celebration of community, creativity, and love.
This is only the beginning.
